Explanation of Temperature Fuse Terminology

¤ TF - Rated operating temperature / TF - Rated functioning temperature

The temperature at which the thermal fuse transitions from a non-conductive to a conductive state, measured under a test current not exceeding 10 mA.

Temperature of the thermal-link which causes it to change its state of conductivity with a detection up to 10mA as the only ｌｏａｄ.

¤ Measured operating temperature/Fusing-off temperature

The product is placed in an oil bath and subjected to a current not exceeding 100 mA, followed by steady heating at a rate of 0.5 K/min to 1 K/min, until the thermal fuse trips at its specified operating temperature.

The fusing-off temperature is the value measured in the test oil bath, with the temperature increased steadily at a rate of 0.5 K/min to 1 K/min and a detection current of 0.1 ampere or less.

¤ TH-Keep Temperature/TH-Holding Temperature

The maximum temperature at which a thermal fuse, when subjected to the rated current under specified conditions and maintained for 168 hours, does not experience any change in its conductive state, or the test value obtained in accordance with IEC 60691.

The maximum temperature at which a thermal link will not cause a change in the onset of conductivity to an open circuit while conducting the rated current for 168 hours, or as specified in IEC 60691.

¤ TM-Maximum Temperature Limit/TM-Maximum temperature limit

The temperature specified by the manufacturer at which the thermal fuse changes its conductive state, while its mechanical and electrical properties remain intact for the prescribed duration.

The manufacturer-specified thermal-link temperature is the maximum temperature at which the thermal-link’s mechanical and electrical properties, having undergone a change in its state of conductivity, will remain unaffected for a specified duration.

¤ Fuse holder

A combination assembly of a fuse base and a fuse holder.

Combination of a fuse-bade with its fuse-carrier.

¤ Miniature fuse

The fusing element therein is a type of fuse that uses a small fusible link.

A fuse in which the fuse-link is a miniature fuse-link.
